Twenty years after 9/11/2001, what are your memories of that day?

Living in the Washington, DC area at that time, I felt personally violated when I saw the bombed out remains of the Pentagon.

It was a horrible autumn, with constant fears of terrorist attacks near historic sites, on the metro, and anthrax scares.
