TV Ads from the 1950s, 60s Illustrate How Society Has Changed. One Can Only Laugh
Reading Kathy Buie Vance’s memoir, which includes a post on 1950s television, brought to mind some of the television ads of that era and even the 1960s. 1952: Our First Television Dramatically Changed Our Lives, and Connected Us to Mass Culture.
I remember watching and listening to Arthur Smith and the Crackerjacks, brought to you by Cubros Snuff or chewing tobacco, with this ditty.
"Snuff too strong is wrong they say/Snuff too weak just melts away. Snuff that's right and good enough. Treat yourself to Cubros snuff!"
