Overdue Political Realignments Spark Desperation, Hyper-partisanship

One of the reasons there is such political anxiety today is that the United States is overdue for a political realignment due to changes in demography, a shift in generational dominance and voting patterns. Baby Boomers are leaving the scene, and the “culture wars” that compelled them to vote one way or another do not resonate with younger generations.
