Reviewing old emails from September, 2001, I think how understandably hysterical yet how thoughtful we were. Not surprisingly, we believed then that the 9/11 attacks were a bigger historical event than the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which launched massive American mobilization and involvement in World War II.
