Mini-Course on Autocracy, Authoritarianism and Surveillance Societies As Global Threat
In the 2020s or 2030s, it seems highly likely the United States will face a constitutional crisis that will determine whether the country remains a democracy with a high degree of individual freedom or whether it becomes an autocracy, an oligarchy, with a much lower degree of individual freedom, or an anocracy, part democracy and part dictatorship. We can choose to learn from history and the experiences of other countries and make the necessary structural changes in our political system, or we can choose to fly blind and barrel forward into a future we or our descendants will probably regret because we chose to lose or abandon our cherished democracy.
